Empowering senior citizens of Sri Lanka in their post-retirement pursuit of financial freedom and re-joining them to the workforce, the Upahara SME loan scheme is designed to support the establishment of new business ventures or the development of existing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by retired Government servants and pensioners of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).

Eligibility
  • Retired Government servants and pensioners of the CEB below 70 years of age
  • Remittance of loan applicant’s pension to an SDB account
Required Documentation
  • A duly filled loan application
  • Copy of the national identity card / passport / driver’s license for identification
  • Address verification document (i.e. copy of fixed utility bill, bank statement, etc) if current postal address differs from the national identity card or identification document
  • Any other document requested by the Bank
