Job Profile:
This position is responsible for overseeing the Bank's taxation function, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax regulations and statutory requirements while supporting accurate financial reporting. The role includes managing tax computations and statutory filings, covering Income Tax, VAT, VAT on Financial Services, WHT, SSCL, Surcharge Tax and other applicable taxes. The incumbent will liaise with regulatory authorities, tax consultants and other stakeholders on taxation matters, coordinate tax audits and inquiries, evaluate tax implications of financial transactions, maintain tax provision schedules and support the preparation of financial statements. A sound understanding of taxation, accounting standards and banking regulations is essential for this role.
Candidate Profile:
- Degree or Full Professional Qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
- Sound knowledge of Sri Lankan taxation regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in handling corporate taxation and liaising with the Department of Inland Revenue.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting requirements and Sri Lanka Accounting Standards (SLFRS/LKAS).
- Experience in the preparation and review of tax computations, tax payments and statutory returns.
- Familiarity with RAMIS and other tax administration systems will be a distinct advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Sinhala.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines effectively.
- High level of professionalism, accuracy and attention to detail.
