Inculcation of good health habits among the people has become more and more important in the present society mainly because of increasing trend of spreading non-communicable disease (NPD) such as Diabetic, Cholesterol, Heart disease etc. SDB bank after considering this situation has initiated a program to promote regular physical exercise habits of the people jointly with Gym Association of Sri Lanka. Gym Association with the help of Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) is presently making arrangements to standardize Gyms operating in the country with a view to provide a better service. In addition, it is necessary to have more Gyms in all parts of the island to increase the accessibility by the people. Under this program SDB has come forward to assist Gym operators to upgrade their businesses to the specified standards and to install new Gyms in necessary locations by way of providing funding facilities. As an initial step the Bank provided training recently for its branch level staff on the required standards for Gyms to be gazette soon. This training program was held in Colombo on 16th January 2019 in the Auditorium of DHPL building, Colombo 2.
