As the largest non-governmental, community based organization in Sri Lanka, SANASA is committed to the long-term development of sustainable, self-reliant communities.

According to the Sanasa movement philosophy, all development is to be undertaken from the peoples’ own resources and capabilities. Thus, it is a development tool not based on handouts, but community empowerment through provision of credit. Credit is linked to training, and includes vocational skills along with the development of sound business principles. Being neither politically nor ethnic based, Sanasa has a national reach. Thus, it has been able to serve its members nation-wide.

We at SANASA Development Bank function as the financial apex of the movement as we are majority owned by the movement itself. As such, we are dedicated to improving the wellbeing and lives of our members, clients and the Sri Lankan society at large.
