Mrs.M.S.Kiriwandeniya ( Chairperson )

Mrs.M.S.Kiriwandeniya, appointed as the Chairperson of SDB PLC in 2011, brings to the table extensive senior management experience in the fields of participatory development, gender issues management, microfinance and conflict resolution. She is also Corporate Leader of the SANASA Group. Mrs.M.S.Kiriwandeniya obtained her basic degree from the University of Peradeniya in Sociology and received a Masters degree in the same filed at University of Sakatchewan, Canada.



Mr.Lakshman Abeysekera

Mr.Lakshman Abeysekare, Chartered Accountant, possess over 20 years experience in the Accounting field. He currently function as a Director / CEO of Janrich (Private ) Limited, Director of NovEx Pharmaceuticals Limited and Governing Council Member of AAT Sri Lanka. He has held the positions of Chief Financial Officer at Emerchemie NB ( Ceylion ) Limited, Accountant Hoeshst ( Ceylon ) Limited, and Senior Accountant at Lankem Ceylon Limited. Mr.Lakshman Abeysekare is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, a Fellow Member of Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka and has a MBA from Institute of Postgraduate Management, University of Sri Jayawardhanapura.


Prof.Sampath Amaratunge

Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, presently the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, obtained his B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from the same university and his M.A. in Economics from the University of Colombo.

As the former Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC), during his tenure from 2009 to 2014, he strategically spearheaded the FMSC towards great developments in academic quality as well as in several important infrastructure projects that include establishment of new building complexes for the FMSC and PhD unit. Being a leader with a vision, he maintained a strong relationship with the students as well as the academic members and was able to take the FMSC to great heights of success.

With a M.Sc. in Economics of Rural Development from the Saga National University and a Ph.D. from Kogoshima National University in Japan, Prof. Amaratunge counts over 25 years of service as an academic at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He has published more than 50 articles in international and national refereed journals and proceedings.

Prof. Amaratunge was also a recipient of the prestigious Research Excellence Award in 2002, awarded by the Kyushu Society of Rural Economics, Japan, which is in addition to several other local and international awards. He is considered as an expert in the field of Economics with special reference to Rural Development.

From 2012 to 2014, Prof. Amaratunge rendered his service as a member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka and several other commissions and takes pride in being the youngest professor ever appointed to the UGC. He was the Chairman of the Federation of University Teachers Associations (FUTA) of Sri Lanka from 2009 to 2012 and it was his leadership and the strength of the team that led for the establishment of several sister unions of FUTA and the introducing of the research allowance for academics and grade one school entrance concept for their children.

Mr.Prabhash Subasinghe

Mr. Prabhash Subasinghe is an ambitious and astute entrepreneur with a distinguished track record and diverse business interests in rubber, seafood, insurance, banking and has become a true Asian success story at a very young age. Currently leading a Group of Companies that have achieved rapid success on a global scale, Mr Subasinghe is a proven leader with a steadfast passion to build great businesses. A drive to relentlessly deliver excellence in his businesses has led to his remarkable success. He is currently the Managing Director of GRI (Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd.) a manufacturer of High-Performance Specialty Tires, which sells its products in over 50 countries.

GRI is a well-established company with worldwide dealer network and its own sales and distribution offices in France, Netherlands, Germany, Australia and the USA. GRI tires are used in the material handling, construction, agriculture, and port tire sectors. Mr Subasinghe is also the Managing Director of GSF (Global Sea Foods Pvt. Ltd.) a supplier of High-Quality Seafood that is served in famous Sushi Restaurants in Tokyo to top-tier Seafood Restaurants in Manhattan, Paris, London etc. Mr. Subasinghe is currently the Chairman of Sri Lanka Association of Manufactures of & Exporters of Rubber Products, President of the Sea Food Exporters Association, Board Member of Sri Lanka Society of Rubber Industry and a Key Advisor for the Sri Lanka National Export Strategy. Mr. Subasinghe holds a B.Sc. in Applied Economics and Business Management from the Ivy league Cornell University with further studies at Harvard University, Insead and the Center for Creative leadership.



Mr.S.Lionel Thilakarathne

Mr. S. Lionel Thilakarathne in addition to being the Chairman of Nikaweratiya Sanasa Union Ltd. he currently holds the position of Executive Director of Rural Centre for Development ( SANGRAMA) , Treasure of Green Movement of Sri Lanka and a Member of Director Board of Governess Forums of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Thilakarathne has many years of experience in Project Management and Participatory Project Planning and Implementation in Rural Areas. He has actively participated in implementing many community development programs in the areas of Agriculture, Fisheries Industry under the World Food Organization in order to uplift the livelihood of villagers. He also has experience as a Trainer and has conducted many training programs including “ Participatory Development & Planning” for officers of Jathika Saviya and Gamaneguma Program , “ participatory Planning and Disaster Management Planning ‘ for the officers for Disaster Management and he has developed a training curriculum for TOT training Program on “ establishment of Community Governance” . Mr. Thilakarathne has published three books, “Participatory Planning Guideline Book, Training Module on Participatory Governance for Local Planners and “Training Module on participatory Governance for Community Leaders”. He is a Diploma holder in Management from Open University of Sri Lanka.



Mr. Arnolds de Vette – Investor Director (Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director)

Mr. Arno de Vette possess a working experience over 25 years in international Banking and Finance Industry, including experiences in responsible financing. Mr. Arno holds a Master’s degree on Economics (1979-1985) from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands. He has followed many Banking courses, Asset Liability Management-, Compliance and Corporate Governance – and General Management Courses etc.

At present he works at SBI Ven Capital, which is the Fund Manager of SBI-FMO Emerging Asia Financial Sector Fund (“Fund”), based in Singapore. The fund has invested in the shareholdings of many regulated financial institutions in emerging Asian countries and non-regulated entities in FinTech in emerging Asian countries. He has worked many years as a Senior Investment Officer of FMO, the Dutch Development Bank where his responsibilities include structuring debt and equity transactions with entities in mainly South East Asia/Central Asia and monitoring , guiding and exiting these transaction. These transactions took place with Banks, Leasing-, Insurance- and MFI transactions in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Kirgiztan, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. From 2001-2016 he worked at Asia Department and Private Equity Department of FMO. He worked as Senior Investment Officer at Triodos Investment Management (a Netherlands based Investment subsidiary of Triodos Bank, a Western Europe based sustainable bank) from 2009-2011, where he was responsible for the structuring of debt and equity products with entities in Asia and Central Asia, monitoring, guiding and exiting transactions. He worked as Trainer at ABN AMRO Bank Academy (a training center for high potential staff of ABN AMRO Bank globally) and was Manager for all back offices, Investment Committee (“IC”)- and ALCO member of ABN AMRO Netherlands Antilles in South America (1997-2000). He worked from 1995-1997 at ABN AMRO Suriname which is a commercial bank active in Suriname, South America with the responsibility as Chief Investment Officer for all commercial activities. He started his banking career (1989-1996) as Head of Credit Department of De Surinaamsche Bank. Further he had taught at High School and University of Suriname on various economic topics.



Mr.K.G. Wijerathne

Mr.K.G. Wijerathnein addition to being an Executive Director of the SANASA Federation, the apex organization of SANASA movement in Sri Lanka, currently holds the position of Chairman of Pahalawewa – Sanasa Society and Director of Matale District Union and MataleDistrict Co-operative Council.

He has experience in working with grass root level communities particularly working with the Sanasa Movement. He has worked as General Manager at Sanasa DTCCS and as a Director of Sanasa Insurance Company Limited.Mr.Wijerathneis an Attorney-at- Law. He possesses L.L.B. Degree and Higher National Diploma in Management from Open University of Sri Lanka.

He followed Diploma Course in Co-operativeManagement at International Co-operative Institute – Moscow(1990/1991), Insurance Management and Administration Course at CUNA – USA (1993) and Credit Unions Leadership Training Course at ACCU – Thailand (1984).



Mr. Chaaminda Kumarasiri FCA, FCCA, ACMA, FMAAT, MBA (Fin), B.Sc. Accy. (Sp.)

Mr. Chaaminda Kumarasiriis the Chairman/Principal Consultant of H C P Consulting (Pvt.) Ltd. and the Founder/CEO of The Human Capital Partner. He is a Good Governance Advocate, Thought Leader, Chartered Accountant, Corporate Trainer, Leadership Coach and a Management Consultant with many years of experience, holding senior leadership positions in leading local as well as multinational organizations.

He has served as the Financial Controller at Bank of Ceylon, Chief Financial Officer at The Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, Assistant Vice President at HSBC Securities Services and Senior Manager – Assurance and Advisory Business Services at Ernst & Young including a secondment to the Financial Services Area office of Ernst & Young LLP, New York.

He is a business turnaround specialist and a strategist who helps crafting the Strategic Plans of leading organizations both in the public sector and private sector. He is also a regular writer on Financial Literacy, Strategic Management and Leadership for print media and a sought after resource person for organizational transformation projects and capacity building initiatives.

He counts over 20 years of lecturing and corporate training experience especially on Strategic Planning, Leadership Development, Organizational Transformation, Change Management, and Financial Intelligence for Business Managers and Emotional Wellbeing through Mindfulness.

Mr. Chaaminda Kumarasiri is a Fellow member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL), The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) – UK, The Association of Accounting Technician of Sri Lanka (AAT) and an Associate member of The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA). He holds a B.Sc. Accountancy (Special) degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with a First Class and has completed his MBA in Finance at the University of Colombo.

He also serves as a member of the governing council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka; the national body of accountants.



Mr. Hiran Prasanna Premaratna- Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr. Prasanna Premaratna counts over 30 years of Private Sector and Public Sector experience as an Agriculturist and as a Development Banker specially involved in the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector development.

Mr. Prasanna Premaratna was a pioneer member of the Management Team of Pelwatte Sugar Industries where he held the positions of Settler Manager and Out-grower Manager before moving into the Banking Sector. He joined DFCC Bank in 1991 and held the position of a Vice President and later appointed as the Chief Executive officer of DFCC Consulting Private limited a fully owned subsidiary of DFCC Bank. As a Development Banker, he was mainly involved in developing the SME sector and assisting many start up projects. Since February 2015 until April 2018, he held the position of Chairman, Regional Development Bank, a Premier State Owned Development Bank.

Mr. Prasanna Premaratna holds a Masters Degree in Agriculture from the USSR, Post Graduate Diploma in Bank Management from the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and Post Graduate Executive Diploma in International Relations from the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) Colombo. He has participated in many local and overseas programmes in Development Banking and agriculture related banking programmes in Europe, South East Asia and in Japan.

He is a Member of the Association Professional Bankers of Sri Lanka (APB) and a Board Member of the South Asia Partnership of Sri Lanka. (SAPSRI)

He is a versatile sportsman who captained Ananda College, Colombo in athletics, a coloursman in Athletics and a permanent member of the college junior and senior Cricket and swimming teams.
